Halloween Happenings at Emerson

The following entry was written by Caroline Pallotta, Class of 2016.

It’s hard to imagine Emerson College as anything other than enthusiastic since we are easily identified by our exuberant Orientation, a Lady Gaga lip dub, and our classes and clubs that take individual passions seriously. But the Student Government Association (SGA)’s Halloween contest “Trick Or Lee” is going to take our EC spirit to the next level.

Trick or Lee

To enter the contest, groups of three to 10 students (floormates, student organizations, or just a group of friends) are invited to propose design ideas for President Pelton’s perfect Halloween costume and spooky décor for his house in Beacon Hill.

Group proposals are due a week before Halloween, and the costume contest winner receives a $50 budget to help outfit President Pelton. Winners of the house decoration plan will be awarded $150 in funds to transform the President’s place into a haunted home. Even more exciting? Contest winners then get to enjoy their hard work over dinner with the President in his Halloween-outfitted home.

Not festive enough for you? Consider the haunted house contests and trick-or-treating that occur on the floors of our residence halls, a trip to Salem full of witch folklore, a Boston Ghost Tour, and the jack-o-lanterns displayed on the Boston Common. You’ll find that Halloween is a citywide celebration!
