During my first year at Emerson, I got pretty sick for about a week: I had swollen glands, a sore throat, and my muscles were so weak that I could barely sit up. This was the first time I’d been sick away from home, and I was a little freaked out. A friend suggested I make an appointment at the Center for Health and Wellness and it ended up being great advice. I was able to get an appointment right away, the staff was extremely receptive and helpful, and I was feeling better within a few days.
While seeing a nurse practitioner in our campus clinic is not the same as your mom taking care of you, it’s pretty much the next best thing. The CHW can treat a variety of medical ailments, and handles everything from referrals to flu shots to STD testing. they even have dieticians on staff to help with nutrition services for weight management or food allergies.
For emergency health services there are several top hospitals very close to Emerson’s campus like Tufts and Mass General. For everything else, check out the CHW’s website to see how they can help. All Emerson students can utilize these services regardless of whether they are using Emerson’s student health insurance.
Pretty much the only they won’t do is make you a bowl of chicken noodle soup, but that’s what roommates are for, right?
