It’s an exciting time for us in Admission and our newly admitted members of the Class of 2017! The Facebook Group has been abuzz as students connect by sharing congratulations, ideas, and common interests. The warmth and camaraderie among accepted students is just another reminder of why the Emerson community is so unique. We are humbled by the wonderful, talented, diverse and overall impressive students we met through these applications – and now we have the opportunity to meet them in person!
We’re looking forward to seeing Early Accepted Students at our February 1st Picture Yourself at Emerson Event. We hope that potential Emersonians will join us to check out our campus and connect (IRL!) with some of their future classmates. Here’s a quick summary of what to expect for those of you who might be attending:
The day will kick off with all of our students and their families registering for the day at the Park Plaza Hotel. There, you’ll enjoy a light breakfast as you hear from the President of Emerson, Dr. Lee Pelton, during the Welcome Reception.
After the reception, we’ll be taking all of our accepted students on campus to sit in a mock-class. This will be a great opportunity for you to experience what life would be like as an Emerson student. Our current faculty will guide you through what your classes will look like, how they will be taught, and answer any questions you may have. You’ll also hear from current Emerson students about what kind of work they are doing in their selected major and the organizations they devote their time to.
Of course, your parents are welcome to hang out, too. While you’re in class, parents will stay at the Park Plaza Hotel for informational sessions on your major, student financial services, or student life.
In the afternoon, have a light lunch on us and then stick around for a Campus Tour or Residence Hall Tour if you want an extra peek at the campus.
We hope that “picturing yourself” at Emerson will make you feel at home in our community – maybe so much so that you’ll see yourself here next Fall. We’re beyond excited to meet you (say hi!), and we hope to see you on February 1st!
