What is the CIRP Survey?

Emerson College is what you make of the experience. Luckily, we give our students the opportunity to tell us exactly what they are interested in. This is done through a Cooperative Institutional Research Program commonly known as CIRP, a detailed survey that allows Emerson’s administration to hear what its students care about and what direction the students want to see the college go in.

Each year, hundreds of colleges and universities administer the CIRP Freshman Survey (TFS) to hundreds of thousands of entering students before or during orientation. The survey covers a wide range of student characteristics: parental income and education, ethnicity, and other demographic items; financial aid; secondary school achievement and activities; educational and career plans; and values, attitudes, beliefs, and self-concept. Published annually in “The American Freshman,” the results from these surveys continue to provide a comprehensive portrait of the changing character of entering students and American society at large.

But more than that, the survey helps to guide the college in the services it offers; investing in the experience and wants of our new students here at Emerson. It is only available for incoming freshman to answer and therefore helps us to figure out what is important to our incoming students before they even get here. We want to know what you think!

The survey will be accessible through your email so be sure to check it out there. Every student has their own unique log-in embedded in their email. After that it’s just a matter of going through the process of answering the questions. Be sure to do it as soon as you can! That way you can guarantee you will be the voice of your class and help out your school.

Additionally, there are other added incentives to filling out the survey including awesome prizes that will be drawn. So be sure to check your email to find out if you’re a winner!

This is a unique opportunity for the class of 2016. Emerson is listening so be sure to speak up and tell us what is important to you! Through your thoughts, habits and ideas, Emerson will review its services offered to ensure your are on the path to success! In the end, just a simple survey will have a lasting pay-off for your education.
