Congrats Grad Students! You made it through the semester!
As you wrap up and take a well-deserved break, please remember that prioritizing yourself is important. Yes, self-care can be bubble baths and tuning into your favorite true crime podcast, but it is also thinking of your needs, which may involve finally checking off and achieving some of your career goals!
As a graduate student, I am always thinking of what my next steps should be in order to land that awesome job post-graduation. I am challenging myself and YOU to move forward with your goals using intention and confidence.
Your goals are personal to you and where you are in your career development journey. Perhaps, you are a first-year graduate student and right now, you just want to start to make connections and network with folks in the industry using personalized messages on Linkedin. If you are a second-year graduate student, it may be your goal to start compiling a list of employers that will help you to narrow down your list for the upcoming job search.
Whatever your goal/s may be, it is good to consider what will advance your professional development. As a way to get you started, EmersonNEXT has a professional association resource guide that highlights some organizations that can connect you to others in your field and elevate you in your career through workshops, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Feel free to buddy up with a fellow Emersonian to hold each other accountable for taking steps toward career development. Remember to check in with Career Development staff for tips to get started!
Have a wonderful break and see you soon!
